Chapter 6;; A Bitter Revival
The great necromancer Erigo Silenti has been vanquished by some unknown cause; perhaps a plague of some sort which had originated in the East. The disease stopped in it’s spread before it could reach any more of the inhabitants, but at a great price.
A great fire destroyed all signs of life in the East, demolishing the lands and those who dwelled within it. The fire was said to have eaten up the last of the disease with it’s undying hunger, till a massive storm swept across it, extinguishing the blaze. Rumors have been spread that a few have escaped, and even now their blood runs thick and poisoned by the sickness.
The storm raged on, hurtling towards the West, wreaking havoc and leaving a path of utter destruction. The stench of rotting flesh is still said to hang heavily upon the air, and the land was so badly scarred that starvation has driven the inhabitants from their once peaceful domain. The death toll from both disasters has reached higher than even the droughts, plagues and starvation that the herds of Ever After have dealt with in the past.
Only two lands now remain safe to inhabit; the North and the South. As a new generation springs forth to life, and the old slowly fades away, there are new troubles to worry the rulers. Three Kings and three Queens for each Realm, both North and South are to be found, and so the herd’s may flourish once more. Perhaps the lands of Ever After will truly reveal itself to be as the storybooks and fairytales speak fondly of; happy.
Or, perhaps not. The North has been reportedly savaged by windstorms and tornadoes, which strike sporadically and quickly, leaving a small amount of death’s and destruction behind. The Southern herds have also been reporting of the unsettled earth around them; the ground roars and shakes beneath them, and splits the Earth in two as earthquakes plague the lands. This is truly a bitter revival, and yet not a revival at all. We have fled from mayhem and death and flung ourselves head first into a chaotic fury that Mother Nature continues to throw upon us.
One cannot help but wonder; when, oh when, will all this end?
